Patient Reference Group and patient survey 2011/12

Tuesday 31 January 2012

Along with Department of Health guidelines, we are setting up a patient reference group to give us feedback on the quality of our services and tell us where we can improve.

Our aim is to reach a wide range of registered patients from all backgrounds so we get views from across our population. To make it as easy as possible for you, it can be virtual (email) and in person (a meeting).

What will be involved?

The main role of the group is to give us feedback through a survey. It asks patients a series of simple questions about how we are doing.

We want to pose the right questions, so the group will be asked to tell us what questions we should be asking. We will collate the answers and then set up a meeting (both by email and face to face) to discuss the results and to decide on an action plan to improve any areas identified.

What will I have to do?

If you are interested in helping us to improve, simply fill in a small slip from reception (or on our website) and return it to us.

Your Questions Answered
Q Why are you asking people for their contact details?
A We want to talk to people about the surgery and how well we are doing to identify areas for improvement.

Q Will my doctor see this information?
A No. It is purely to contact patients to ask them questions about the surgery and how well we are doing. Your doctor will only see the overall results.

Q Will the questions you ask me be medical or personal?
A General questions about the practice, how we are proving services and what we can do to improve them.

Q Who else will be able to access my contact details?
A No one beyond the practice as we fully comply with data protection rules.

Q How often will you contact me?
A Not very often (at least once per year).

Q What is a patient representative group?
A It is a group of volunteer patients who are involved in shaping the services to patients.

Q Do I have to take part in the group?
A No, but if you change your mind, please let us know.

Q What if I no longer wish to be on the contact list or I leave the surgery?
A We will ask you to let us know if you do not wish to receive further messages and that is fine.

Q Who do I contact if I have further questions?
A The Practice Manager, Mr Julian Saul.
If you are able to help, please complete the attached form called Patient reference group and return to The Practice Manage, Julian Saul.  Thank you

Our GP Patient Survey Results 2010/11

Monday 11 July 2011

Hello to you all.
The GP Patient Survey gives patients the opportunity to comment on your experience of us, Falcon Medical Group and some other NHS services. The  survey asks patients about their experience of accessing care from their practice (from making an appointment, experience of reception through to the clinical consultation) as well as asking about other services such as dentistry and out of hours provision.
The results have just been publised but please click the link below for the key results.  As you will see from the report our services and opening times have scored better than the English and Newcastle Primary Care Trust averages.

Appointment Survey Results

Friday 1 July 2011

 Hello
Thank you to all of you who have completed the short survey about our appointments.
We wanted to know when you wanted appointments and a little about our opening times so as of 1st July 2011, we have changed our opening times and amended the GPs appointment times.  Please see below as follows.
We are now open until 1830 every weekday night (see home page), this should allow workers the change to get an appointment that may not encroach on YOUR work time.  We are also open later on Saturdays now.  We are open from 0900 until 1200pm.
We have changed from the standard GP appointment sessions eg. 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.  Our GPs now split their morning session to 1 morning, 1 lunchtime and then 1 in the afternoon.  This is to allow greater access to GPs at time YOU want them.
Please contact the Practice Manager if you have further queries or comments.

New Implanon services

Wednesday 1 September 2010

Dr Graham is now accredited to fit and remove Implanon.  Please ask a recpetionist for details.
What is Implanon??
IMPLANON® is a type of birth control for women. It is a flexible plastic rod the size of a matchstick that is put under the skin of your arm.

IMPLANON® contains a hormone called etonogestrel. You can use a single IMPLANON® rod for up to three years. Because IMPLANON® does not contain estrogen, your healthcare provider may recommend IMPLANON® even if you cannot use estrogen.
